«Pre-emptive war» e «preventive war»

Ci sarebbe anche preemptive war, ovvero ‘guerra prelativa’, che da noi viene confusa con la preventive war, ‘guerra preventiva’. Chiedo scusa, ma non avevo voglia di aprire un altro filone con tutta questa terminologia bellica, che aborro.

Un altro filone, invece, lo apriamo, ché l’argomento è sufficientemente diverso. 

Non vedo proprio come si possa tradurre —in questo contesto— pre-emptive con «prelativo».  Inoltre, la distinzione tra pre-emptive war e preventive war non sembra del tutto chiara nemmeno agli anglofoni, se anche loro sono costretti a specificare.

preventive war n. a war initiated by one state, faction, etc., in anticipation of (suspected) hostile intentions on the part of another.

Insomma, sempre di «guerra preventiva» si tratta, nell’un caso per fronteggiare un rischio concreto (e imminente), nell’altro uno (piú) teorico. (Forse, volendo proprio distinguere, nel primo caso si potrebbe ricorrere a qualcosa come «guerra d’anticipazione» e «attacco anticipatorio»… )
