In ufologia, s'indica con abduction il presunto rapimento di persone da parte di entità aliene:

In italiano ho sentito spesso rapimento alieno, anche se è possibile abduzione, che ha però lo svantaggio, se così si può chiamare, di confondersi con un concetto delle scienze motorie.

In inglese il verbo to abduct e il sostantivo abduction indicano genericamente un rapimento:

In portoghese usiamo abduzir e abdução. Secondo il dizionario viene dal latino abducere e abduction, rispettivamente. È possibile che l'uso inglese abbia influito sul suo largo impiego, ma la parola è nostra.
